Stripes Photography Tour
Welcome to India, the land of culture, wilderness and temples. Today is a day of rest and ward of jet lag at your hotel in New Delhi. You can also plan a tour of Delhi to see historical buildings and do some shopping for coming tour.
Early morning we leave for the airport to catch our flight to Jabalpur. Our wilderness tour starts from Bandhavgarh (4 hour drive from Jabalpur). After checking in and some rest we will have an orientation program about wildlife of central India. Our photography tour starts from the evening when we leave for a Jungle walk to spot and click the feathered friends in the buffer region of Bandhavgarh tiger reserve.
Bandhavgarh fort, inside the tiger reserve is believed to have hidden within its ruins history of almost 5000 years. Archaeological importance of artefacts spread over is very high.
Bandhavgarh forests are famous for – Mohan, the first living white tiger caught and reared by than Maharaja Martand Singh ji of Royal family of Rewa. Today we have 2 safaris in the core area of these pristine forests to spot and photograph the striped cat and other free roaming wildlife. Be alert and keep your camera gear always ready as Jungle can give a chance to click anytime and moment lost is lost.
Bandhavgarh forests has a fort and ruins of old times spread over the park. It is said that these forests and fort has history of more than 5000 years hidden in its depths. Charger and Sita the most famous tigers of central India lived in these forests. You can expect to spot and photograph Leopard, Sloth bear, Barking deer, Spotted deer, wild dogs and many other animals along with Tiger. Due to its high density of Tigers Bandhavgarh national park is well known for good tiger sightings and you get great opportunities to photograph the king of the forest.
Bandhavgarh tiger reserve has 270 known species of birds, 22 mammals and host of other free roaming wildlife. But, do remember, wildlife photography is an art which needs lots of patience and good knowledge of local wilderness. Your accompanying nature guide and drivers are experts and understand the forests well and will try their best to spot the best of Bandhavgarh's wilderness for you.
Kanha national park, situated in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh is one of the best place to spot tigers and other wildlife (5 hours drive). We will reach Kanha Village Eco Resort, a unique eco-friendly wildlife lodge where we will be staying in mud houses. Our evening Jungle walk will help us understand the local biodiversity and give us a chance to photograph those birds which prefer buffer region.
At Kanha we will be taking 3 morning and 3 evening safaris in the core area of the tiger reserve. Kanha has 22 mammal, 259 bird and 117 butterfly species along with other flora and fauna. You will get a chance to photograph them in our morning and noon safari sojourns.
Jewel of Kanha – Hard ground Barasingha or the twelve tinned swamp deer is endemic to Kanha national park. You will get a chance to spot and photograph them in the maidans and adjoining water bodies. You can expect to spot Tigers, Leopard, Jungle cat, Wild dogs, Jackals, Hyena, Foxes, Spotted deer, Sambhar deer, Barking deer and many other wild animals in these beautiful Sal and Bamboo forests.
Kanha offers 259 known species of birds including Grey Hornbill, Peacock, Babblers, Parakeets, Munias, Lapwing, Eagles and many more which can be spotted and photographed. Do remember, wildlife photography is an art which needs lots of patience and good understanding of wildlife. You have to be ready with your camera equipment's full time as our subjects can present us a chance to photograph a rare moment anytime.
We can take a brief jungle walk in the buffer forest adjoining the resort to photograph some of our flying friends. We leave after breakfast; it will take us 3 hours to reach Pench tiger reserve. A dry deciduous forest, Pench is divided between two states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. After checking in at our resort we have a small round of orientation about this beautiful forest and its flora and fauna. Evening is reserved for spotting and photographing birds in the buffer region.
We have 3 days full of wildlife experience here on our 6 safari rides. On our morning safari we may spot tigers, sloth bear,leopard, spotted deer, sambhar deer, Gaur, Jackal, Wild cat and other mammals. Landscape of Pench makes it easier to spot and photograph the inhabitants of this forest. Today Pench has become one of the favourite jungles amongst wildlife enthusiasts to spot and photograph Tigers. We will have a noon safari to spot and photograph wild denizens.
Pench national park has some very good water bodies which attracts birds and even migratory birds come here in thousands. We will get a chance to photograph vultures and predator birds from up close and relatively easily. Our morning and noon safaris today will also give us a chance to spot and photograph other wild animals including the mighty Tiger.
Our 6 safari rides here will give us lots of chance to photograph the free roaming wildlife and birds of central India. Today are our last two safari rides of this tour and hopefully you will be able to get some awesome and rare chances to photo-document. Pench national park is different from Bandhavgarh and Kanha national parks, especially its fauna. A new entrant in the list of protected tiger reserves it has become a favourite of wildlife lovers in few years.
We are coming to an end of our wildlife photography tour today and leave for Nagpur after breakfast to catch our flight back to national capital of New Delhi. You are transferred to International airport to take flight back home.
